Transportation
Most major towns in Sabah have airports for domestic travel with international flights departing from Kota Kinabalu International Airport either direct or via Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Car Rental
Registered car rental companies are available in Kota Kinabalu only. Types of vehicles for hire varies broadly from basic compact sedans to 4X4 off-road vehicles, vans and coaches depending on your travel needs.
Public Transport
Main bus terminal for travel within the city and city limits is located opposite Wawasan Square south of the city centre. The long distance coaches are available at the terminal in Inanam Township area which requires a taxi or bus ride to get there. Buses plying the labuan and Kuala penyu routes are however still located at the main city bus terminal.
Taxis are available at the airport, all major hotels and taxi stations in the city usually located at main dining and entertainment spots. Taxis can also be chartered on a hourly basis to visit nearly tourist area or overland to Kinabalu Park and onwards to towns on the east coast.
Boats and Ferries
Jesselton Point is a historic harbour port with 135meters of strolling walkway jetty, sea front terrace restaurants, food court and futsal courts. It is a departure point for ferries to the surrounding islands in Sabah (Tunku abdul Rahman Park) / Labuan / Brunei. With it’s relaxing view of the sunset, combined with the yearly activities that takes place in Jesselton Point – today it has become a must-go-to place for every tourist’s trip to Sabah.
